Forrest Lamp Profile
A two-star recruit out of Venice, Florida, Forrest Lamp was scouted by the University of Miami, Florida Atlantic and Florida International, among other schools, prior to committing to Western Kentucky. Lamp, a two-way player in high school, began his collegiate career as a right guard before making a shift to left tackle for the final nine games of his redshirt-freshman season. He continued to cover the blind side for the rest of his time at WKU.
At the 2017 NFL Combine, Lamp finished as a top performer among offensive linemen in the 40-yard dash, bench press, broad jump, and 3-cone drill, displaying exceptional athleticism at his position. Heading into the draft, Lamp was highly touted for his versatility and teams anticipated that he’d be able to learn and play multiple positions along the offensive line. NFL media analysts Mike Mayock and Bucky Brooks listed Lamp as the top interior lineman in the draft.
Despite his projection as a first-round pick, the Chargers took the two-time first-team All-Conference (U.S.A.) lineman in the second round, 38th overall, of the 2017 NFL draft.
On Aug. 2, Lamp suffered a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) during a training camp practice and was ruled out for the entire 2017-2018 season.
