1. Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray | QB | Oklahoma
Measurables: 5’10” | 195 LBS
Career Passing Stats: 29 GP | 350-519 (67.4%) | 5,406 YDs | 50 TDs | 14 INTs
Career Rushing Stats: 29 GP | 207 ATTs | 1,478 YDs | 7.1 AVG | 13 TDs
Our Take: On paper, Murray looks like a perfect fit for Kliff Kingsbury’s “air raid” offense, but there are no guarantees about how a player will adjust to the game at the next level. The Cardinals must also deal with Josh Rosen who showed flashes of the immense talent and confidence that he was drafted for, but it was overshadowed by the poor play of his receivers and a nonexistent offensive line. Murray may give Kingsbury and the Cardinals their best chance to succeed going forward given the change in the system.
“Coach Kingsbury, I know the type of offense he runs. He recruited me out of high school and I have a great relationship with him,” Murray said. “If I were to play under him I think it’d be a great deal. But I don’t get to pick players. I just show up and do what I’m supposed to do. I’d obviously be very comfortable knowing how he operates that offense, what we look for, and how to operate everything … me and him being together would be nice.”
2. San Francisco 49ers
Nick Bosa | DE | Ohio State
Measurables: 6’4” | 263 LBS
Career Stats: 29 GP | 77 TOTs | 29 TFL | 17.5 SKs | 2 FFs
Our Take: If the Cardinals do end up taking Murray, the 49ers are in prime position to land the top-rated player in the draft in Nick Bosa.
3. New York Jets
Josh Allen | OLB | Kentucky
Measurables: 6’5” | 260 LBS
Career Stats: 42 GP | 220 TOTs | 42 TFL | 31.5 SKs | 1 INT | 8 PD | 11 FFs
Our Take: The Jets are in desperate need of a game-changing edge rusher and they could be in prime position to pick up a player like that in Kentucky’s Josh Allen. His talent, experience, and production are hard to pass up at this point.
4. Oakland Raiders
Quinnen Williams | DT | Alabama
Measurables: 6’4” | 289 LBS
Career Stats: 24 GP | 91 TOTs | 26 TFL | 10 SKs
Our Take: The ideal situation for the Raiders is an early run on quarterbacks that allows them to end up with either Josh Allen or Nick Bosa but adding the top interior pass rusher in Williams is not a bad consolation prize. The second-highest rated player in the draft would be an excellent addition to a team that needs help at every level of their defense.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Devin White | ILB | LSU
Measurables: 6’1” | 240 LBS
Career Stats: 34 GP | 286 TOTs | 28.5 TFL | 8.5 SKs | 1 INT | 9 PD | 4 FFs
Our Take: There’s been talk about this pick being one of two guarantees in the draft. The Buccaneers lost starting linebacker Kwon Alexander to the 49ers this off-season, but after Alexander led the league in missed tackles last season, White could end up being a much-needed improvement and an interesting pairing with new acquisition Deone Bucannon.
6. New York Giants
Montez Sweat | DE | Mississippi State
Measurables: 6’6” | 245 LBS
Career Stats: 26 GP | 103 TOTs | 30 TFL | 23 SKs | 1 FF
Our Take: The Giants don’t appear to be interested in using this pick on Manning’s eventual successor and have been taking a good look at some of the top edge rushers in the draft. Sweat possesses a rare combination of size and athleticism for his position, but he was also diagnosed with a previously undiagnosed but low-risk heart condition at the Combine. The heart condition could cause him to drop, but the talent is there.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars
DK Metcalf | WR | Ole Miss
Measurables: 6’4” | 225 LBS
Career Stats: 21 GP | 67 RECs | 1,228 YDs | 18.3 AVG | 14 TDs
Our Take: Nick Foles needs some weapons to work with and Metcalf’s monster workouts have not gone unnoticed. Being able to make plays down the field should help Fournette and the running game as well.
8. Detroit Lions
Rashan Gary | DE/DL | Michigan
Measurables: 6’5” | 283 LBS
Career Stats: 34 GP | 119 TOTs | 23 TFL | 9.5 SKs | 1 FF
Our Take: The Lions let go of Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah this off-season after an injury-plagued tenure, but they may not have to look too far to find his replacement. Gary was a dominant force and a leader on a University of Michigan defense that commonly found itself ranked among the top in the nation throughout Gary’s tenure.
9. Buffalo Bills
Jonah Williams | OT | Alabama
Measurables: 6’5” | 301 LBS
Our Take: Williams may end up playing guard in the NFL, but something worth noting is his experience blocking for a mobile quarterback in former Alabama starter Jalen Hurts. That type of experience would be very helpful for a player tasked with blocking for Josh Allen.
10. Denver Broncos
Drew Lock | QB | Missouri
Measurables: 6’4” | 225 LBS
Career Passing Stats: 50 GP | 883-1553 (56.9%) | 12,193 YDs | 99 TDs | 39 INTs
Career Rushing Stats: 50 GP | 220 ATTs | 437 YDs | 2.2 AVG | 9 TDs
Our Take: The Broncos traded for Joe Flacco early in the off-season, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t look at the future of the position with this pick. GM John Elway is reportedly ‘smitten’ with Lock and the Missouri prospect could find himself off the board early and into Denver.
11. Cincinnati Bengals
Devin Bush | LB | Michigan
Measurables: 5’11” | 233 LBS
Career Stats: 32 GP | 172 TOTs | 18.5 TFL | 10 SKs | 1 INT | 11 PD
Our Take: If Haskins is somehow still here, the Bengals are likely to give him heavy consideration, but they still have Andy Dalton under center and the defense is in desperate need of attention. A true leader and a dynamic playmaker like Bush in the middle of their defense would be a great cornerstone going forward.
12. Green Bay Packers
Clelin Ferrell | DE | Clemson
Measurables: 6’5” | 260 LBS
Career Stats: 44 GP | 166 TOTs | 50.5 TFL | 27 SKs | 5 FFs
Our Take: After letting go of Clay Matthews this off-season, the Packers need to look to add a premier edge rusher. Ferrell has good size and is effective as both a pass rusher and a run stopper. Even with the addition of Za’Darius Smith this off-season, adding Ferrell is still an option for the Packers.
13. Miami Dolphins
Dwayne Haskins | QB | Ohio State
Measurables: 6’3” | 220 LBS
Career Passing Stats: 22 GP | 413-590 (70%) | 5,396 YDs | 54 TDs | 9 INTs
Career Rushing Stats: 22 GP | 108 ATTs | 194 YDs | 1.4 AVG | 4 TDs
Our Take: This could be a dream scenario for the Dolphins, apart from #Tank4Tua fans. Realistically, Haskins should be gone well before this pick, but if he somehow makes it here the Dolphins should jump on the opportunity to take a talented young quarterback that can spend the year learning behind Ryan Fitzpatrick before taking the reins down the road.
Taking the heir to Dan Marino with the 13th overall pick? Now that’s just poetic.
14. Atlanta Falcons
Ed Oliver | DT | Houston
Measurables: 6’3” | 292 LBS
Career Stats: 32 GP | 192 TOTs | 53 TFL | 13.5 SKs | 5 FFs
Our Take: Oliver was once considered a strong candidate to be the first overall pick but appears to have fallen a bit out of favor after injuries led to a disappointing end to his college career. It’s also hard to say whether the comparisons to Aaron Donald are helping or hurting him. Long story short, the talent is there, and the Falcons could end up sporting a terrifying pairing of Oliver and Grady Jarrett with this pick.
15. Washington Natives
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown | WR | Oklahoma
Measurables: 5’10” | 168 LBS
Career Stats: 25 GP | 132 RECs | 2,413 YDs | 18.3 AVG | 17 TDs
Our Take: Whoever is quarterbacking in D.C. next season will need a dynamic playmaker at receiver with the departure of Jamison Crowder this off-season. Brown could be that guy for Washington moving forward.
16. Carolina Panthers
Brian Burns | OLB/DE | FSU
Measurables: 6’5” | 235 LBS
Career Stats: 33 GP | 123 TOTs | 38.5 TFL | 23 SKs | 7 FF
Our Take: The Julius Peppers replacement pick! Burns gives the Panthers a young option that should have some early success putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
17. New York Giants
Andre Dillard | OT | Washington State
Measurables: 6’5” | 310 LBS
Our Take: Dillard is considered the top offensive tackle in pass protection and would be an improvement on an offensive line that continues to rebuild.
18. Minnesota Vikings
T.J. Hockenson | TE | Iowa
Measurables: 6’5” | 250 LBS
Career Stats: 23 GP | 73 RECs | 1,080 YDs | 9 TDs
Our Take: Hockenson is listed as the top tight end in the draft and with Kyle Rudolph entering the final year of his current contract, the Vikings could look to go younger at the position and they may have a shot at Hockenson at this spot.
19. Tennessee Titans
Christian Wilkins | DT | Clemson
Measurables: 6’4” | 300 LBS
Career Stats: 53 GP | 187 TOTs | 39 TFL | 15 SKs | 2 FFs
Our Take: The Titans should look to build up the trenches on both sides of the ball in this draft but could focus on the defense first if a player of Wilkins’ caliber is still available.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers
Byron Murphy | CB | Washington
Measurables: 5’11” | 182 LBS
Career Stats: 20 GP | 74 TOTs | 7 TFL | 6 INTs | 20 PD | 2 FFs
Our Take: Murphy may be a bit undersized, but the Steelers will enjoy having a competitive, ball-hawking, high IQ cornerback in their secondary especially given the sudden rise of Baker Mayfield and his Cleveland Browns.
21. Seattle Seahawks
Jachai Polite | OLB | Florida
Measurables: 6’2” | 242 LBS
Career Stats: 29 GP | 78 TOTs | 28.5 TFL | 15 SKs | 8 FFs
Our Take: The Seahawks are looking to supplant the production of Frank Clark, who was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs this week. Polite had a rough combine but he shows high-end explosiveness in his game tape and flashed the potential to be a contributor at the next level.
22. Baltimore Ravens
Jaylon Ferguson | DE | Louisiana Tech
Measurables: 6’5” | 262 LBS
Career Stats: 50 GP | 187 TOTs | 67.5 TFL | 45 SKs | 7 FFs
Our Take: The Ravens lost Terrell Suggs to the Arizona Cardinals this off-season, so the team will be looking to find a replacement for its all-time sack leader in the Draft. All-time NCAA sack leader Jaylon Ferguson may be Baltimore’s best bet. Ferguson is a big, strong player who showed the ability to make an impact over four years in Louisiana. His experience should prepare him to step in and handle a heavy workload.
23. Houston Texans
Jawaan Taylor | OT | Florida
Measurables: 6’5” | 328 LBS
Our Take: Deshaun Watson was sacked a league-high 62 times in the regular but still managed to lead the Texans to a playoff berth. If the Texans want to continue making the Playoffs, they have to do a much better job of protecting their franchise quarterback. Drafting a player like Taylor would be a good start.
24. Oakland Raiders (via Chicago Bears)
Josh Jacobs | RB | Alabama
Measurables: 5’10” | 328 LBS
Career Rushing Stats: 40 GP | 251 ATTs | 1,491 YDs | 5.9 AVG | 16 TDs
Career Receiving Stats: 40 GP | 48 RECs | 571 YDs | 11.9 AVG | 5 TDs
Our Take: Marshawn Lynch has retired, and this is a move that the Raiders should be encouraged to make. Despite a light workload at Alabama, Jacobs has shown the talent to be named the top running back in the Draft and could be the one and only running back to be taken in the first round.
25. Philadelphia Eagles
Andraez “Greedy” Williams | CB | LSU
Measurables: 6’2” | 182 LBS
Career Stats: 24 GP | 71 TOTs | 1.5 TFL | 8 INTs | 19 PD
Our Take: The Eagles finished the 2018-2019 season with the worst rated cornerbacks in the NFL. If the prototypical Williams is still somehow available here, it would be nearly impossible for the Eagles to pass him up.
26. Indianapolis Colts
Johnathan Abram | S | Georgia Mississippi State
Measurables: 5’11” | 205 LBS
Career Stats: 33 GP | 195 TOTs | 15.5 TFL | 2 INTs | 10 PD | 3 FFs
Our Take: With Andrew Luck’s resurgence last season, the Colts are a team without many holes and sit in a good place to pick a player like Abram who many consider to be the best player at his position in this draft. If the offense continues to play at a high level, improving the defense will make the Colts a very frustrating team to play and solidify them as Super Bowl contenders.
27. Oakland Raiders (via Dallas Cowboys)
Nasir Adderley | DB | Delaware
Measurables: 6’0” | 206 LBS
Career Stats: 41 GP | 226 TOTs | 10 INTs | 31 PD
Our Take: Adderley’s Senior Bowl performance and the impression he left on Jon Gruden could have him headed to Oakland (Las Vegas?). This might be a bit high for Adderley, but the Raiders need secondary help, and if Gruden genuinely likes Adderley, it could be a mistake to let him fall past this pick.
28. Los Angeles Chargers
Dexter Lawrence | DT | Clemson
Measurables: 6’4” | 340 LBS
Career Stats: 38 GP | 131 TOTs | 18 TFL | 10 SKs | 1 FF
Our Take: The Chargers let go of Corey Liuget this off-season and Brandon Mebane isn’t getting any younger, so they should be expected to address the need on their defensive line early in the draft. Lawrence had three dominant seasons at Clemson and would be a welcome addition in Los Angeles. His immense size alone could make him worthy of this selection.
29. Kansas City Chiefs
Deandre Baker | CB | Georgia
Measurables: 5’11” | 185 LBS
Career Stats: 36 GP | 116 TOTs | 4 TFL | 7 INTs | 23 PD | 2 FFs
Our Take: The Chiefs secondary allowed the second-most passing yards per game last season and they’ll now have to face Antonio Brown twice a season for years to come after he got traded to the Raiders earlier in the off-season. Now the Chiefs need a corner capable of covering a player like Brown Those expectations may be a bit high for a rookie like Baker, but he has all the tools to develop into that type of player over the years.
30. Green Bay Packers (via New Orleans Saints)
Cody Ford | OT | Oklahoma
Measurables: 6’4” | 338 LBS
Our Take: Keeping Aaron Rodgers upright is the only way this team can work its way out of this two-year slump. Ford was the best offensive lineman on the best offensive line in college football last year. Some analysts have Ford making the leap to play guard at the next level but that shouldn’t be a problem for him or for the Packers.
31. Los Angeles Rams
Garrett Bradbury | C | N.C. State
Measurables: 6’3” | 306 LBS
Our Take: The Rams are moving on from 33-year-old center John Sullivan, but they could be in position to nab the top center in the draft. While other teams are focused on the defensive talent in the draft, the Rams could profit and end up with next cornerstone of their offensive line in Bradbury.
32. New England Patriots
Irv Smith Jr. | TE | Alabama
Measurables: 6’4” | 241 LBS
Career Stats: 24 GP | 58 RECs | 838 YDs | 10 TDs
Our Take: The Patriots need to replace Rob Gronkowski and it could be between Alabama’s Irv Smith Jr. and Iowa’s Noah Fant with this pick. Fant is an excellent prospect but there appears to be mutual interest between Smith and the Patriots.
